WordPress Sites That Rank

Plenty of Canadian businesses run on WordPress, and many of those sites carry slow themes and messy indexing that hold them back in search. CreateITivity rebuilds them so pages load fast on a phone, structured data validates, and the site can grow to thousands of pages without falling over.

What does CreateITivity do on WordPress?

Plenty of Canadian businesses run on WordPress, and many of those sites carry slow themes and messy indexing that hold them back in search. CreateITivity rebuilds them so pages load fast on a phone, structured data validates, and the site can grow to thousands of pages without falling over.

  • Stack: WordPress
  • Core Web Vitals: off-the-shelf theme plus a long plugin list out of the box, LCP ≤ 2.5s · INP ≤ 200ms at p75 once we have built it
  • Code and accounts held in your name
  • Monthly SEO support available after launch
  • Based in Mississauga, Ontario, working with clients across Canada

Focus areas

Three areas we work on in WordPress

Speed, structured data and scale come up on every platform we work with. The code panels are simplified examples of what we check and change.

Speed

Most slow WordPress sites are slow for the same reason. Scripts from plugins and builders load on pages that never use them. We remove what is unused, push offscreen media to load later and put static files behind a CDN, so mobile visitors in Halifax or Kelowna get the same quick page as someone in Toronto.

Schema

An SEO plugin will output some markup, usually as disconnected fragments. We write the JSON-LD by hand. Organization, Service, Article, FAQ and BreadcrumbList nodes point at each other, so search engines and AI assistants read your business as one entity.

Scale

Large page sets on WordPress need structure. We model them with custom post types and ACF flexible blocks, then generate pages through a scripted pipeline. A franchise with a page for every Canadian city it serves can publish them all while the database and the editor stay responsive.

About this stack

What CreateITivity brings to a WordPress site

Launching WordPress takes an afternoon. Keeping it fast and crawlable for years is the hard part. Page builders stack scripts on every template, old PHP versions linger, plugins fight over canonical tags and nobody remembers why half of them were installed. Our approach starts at the data layer. We write a block theme that keeps SEO-critical output out of plugin hands, render pages on the server, connect the schema into one graph and give your editors a publishing flow they will happily use. For Ontario organizations we also build to AODA and WCAG 2.1 AA, and for Québec audiences we can set up English and French versions with proper hreflang.

  • Experienced WordPress developers do the hands-on work
  • Changes arrive as reviewable pull requests in your own accounts
  • Built with the platform’s own tools wherever possible, so fewer add-ons to pay for
  • Moving to or from WordPress comes with a redirect plan that protects search traffic
How the work runs

How we work

From first crawl to launch on WordPress

Projects move through the same stages in order. You can see progress at each one through regular written updates.

  1. Technical Review

    $ wp site audit --depth=full

    We crawl the install end to end. Each plugin gets listed, the theme is inspected, blocking resources are traced, markup is validated and lab Core Web Vitals are recorded as a baseline.

  2. Block Theme

    $ npm run build:theme

    A purpose-built block theme takes over from the page builder. Output is rendered on the server, unused scripts are gone and editors keep the native block editor they already know.

  3. Structured Data

    $ wp schema validate --strict

    One linked JSON-LD graph loads from the theme head. The Organization node anchors Service, Article, FAQ and Breadcrumb entries so every page describes the same business.

  4. Caching Layer

    $ wp cache flush --type=all

    Cloudflare or Bunny sits at the edge with a server cache behind it. Uploads convert to WebP or AVIF automatically and asset versions bump on every release.

  5. Launch and Watch

    $ deploy --env=production

    We compare staging against production, deploy, then record field vitals after launch. Lighthouse runs every week and Search Console anomalies raise an alert.

FAQs

WordPress questions we hear often

Straight answers to what Canadian clients ask us before they commit.

Do you keep our current theme or start a new one?
That depends on what the review finds. When the existing theme can be cleaned up, we refactor it where it sits. When it loads scripts we have no way to remove, we write a new block theme and keep the editing screens your staff are used to.
Can you build headless WordPress?
Yes, inside the Enterprise package. Editors stay in WP-Admin. Content is served over REST or GraphQL to a Next.js, Astro or Nuxt front end that is prerendered or rendered at the edge, which keeps first paint quick.
What happens with plugins that conflict?
The first thing we produce is a plugin register. For each one it records the job it does, the weight it adds and any effect on SEO. Then each plugin is replaced, rewritten or uninstalled. The survivors stay with a written reason, so you can see the cost of each.
Do you work on WooCommerce stores?
Yes. For WooCommerce we concentrate on product markup, keeping filter and facet URLs from eating crawl budget, generated category pages and checkout conversion. Canadian stores can add extensions for Canada Post rates, Moneris payments and provincial sales tax rules.
Does WordPress.com work, or do we need self-hosting?
The higher WordPress.com plans that allow plugins and themes give us room to do most of the Starter and Production work. The entry-level plans lock down too much. If your plan blocks the changes you need, we say so before the project starts, along with what a move to other hosting would involve.
Where do WordPress speed gains usually come from?
Four places, most of the time. A light block theme with no jQuery dependency. Images served from a CDN as WebP or AVIF. Tag Manager, chat widgets and other non-essential scripts loaded later. Layout shift from sidebars and font swaps fixed at the source. How long it takes to reach green depends on how much the current build is carrying.
Who owns the site after handover?
Your business owns it. We work inside your WordPress install on hosting held in your name, we do not resell hosting and we do not need permanent access. At the final handover call the code and every login move to you.
Can you move us off WordPress?
Yes. We move sites from WordPress to Next.js, Webflow and Shopify. Each migration gets a URL map, a 301 plan, a check that every page made it across and a careful switch of the Search Console property, so rankings survive the change.
How is a WordPress project priced?
A Starter review is a fixed project fee. Production and Enterprise work is quoted after a short discovery phase, because the size of the site, the plugin tangle and the number of generated pages all change the effort. You get a written estimate in CAD before committing to anything bigger.
How long does a Production build take?
We plan it in phases: review, theme and plugin work, schema and technical SEO, then QA and launch. The schedule is set during discovery and depends on how large and how tangled the current site is. Headless Enterprise projects run longer because there is a second front end to build.
Can you make our WordPress site bilingual and accessible?
Yes. We set up English and French with WPML or Polylang, translated slugs and hreflang tags, which matters for audiences in Québec and for federal work. We also build and test against WCAG 2.1 AA, the level referenced by Ontario’s AODA rules.
