The service
Our approach to
Software Administration & Patch Management
Maintaining modern software environments requires rigorous currency and maintenance standards. We manage operating system lifecycles, routine firmware updates, software configurations, and critical security patches across your fleet. Through scheduled staging, testing, and managed deployments, we ensure your production environments stay protected without compromising day-to-day stability.

Common blockers
Where this kind of work usually gets stuck
Problems that show up again and again when we first look at an account. Our plan is built to deal with each one.
Known vulnerabilities left open for months
Attackers scan for systems missing published fixes. The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security lists keeping operating systems and applications patched among its baseline controls for small and medium organizations.
The update that broke the accounting software
One bad update before year-end and the team stops patching altogether. The fear is reasonable. Skipping updates is the wrong response to it.
Operating systems past end of support
Once a vendor stops issuing security updates, every new flaw stays open. Many offices only find out when an application vendor refuses to support them.
Settings that differ on every machine
Years of one-off fixes leave each computer configured a little differently. Troubleshooting slows down, and some machines miss security settings altogether.

How we keep the work accountable
Before work starts, we agree on the number that matters most to you. Each sprint is planned against it. You get a short recorded update every week and a dashboard you can open any time, and the senior lead joins every call.
- A senior lead runs your account from day one
- A recorded walkthrough each week and a shared reporting dashboard
- We work inside the tools and CMS your team already uses
- Target ranges written into the agreement before we begin
Our Process
Four stages of Software Administration & Patch Management
The same order every time: find the constraint, plan, deliver, then review. Here is what each stage involves.
Inventory the software
We record operating system versions, installed applications and firmware across your fleet, along with the date each one loses vendor support.
Test on a pilot group
New updates go to a test group first, including a few staff who use your key business applications every day.
Deploy in the window
Once the pilot is clean, updates roll out in groups during the agreed maintenance window, with servers last and a rollback plan ready.
Verify and report
We confirm each install, check that services restarted properly and record any machine that was deferred, along with the reason.
Patches move in groups, from a pilot to everyone
Sending an update to every machine at once is how a single faulty patch becomes an office-wide outage. We release updates in stages. A pilot group goes first, then general workstations, then servers in the maintenance window. A problem found in the pilot stops the rollout before it reaches anyone else, and every stage has a planned way back. Critical security fixes follow a faster track agreed with you in advance, with a shorter pilot and a direct note to your team about what is changing.
- A pilot group that includes your key applications
- Workstations before servers
- A rollback plan for each stage
- A faster track for critical security fixes

Plan upgrades before vendor support ends
Patching only helps while the vendor is still publishing patches. We track end-of-support dates for your operating systems and for the firmware on servers, switches and storage, and turn them into an upgrade plan you can budget for a year or more ahead. This matters for privacy obligations too. PIPEDA expects safeguards that suit the sensitivity of the information you hold, and a system that can no longer be patched is hard to defend as one.
- End-of-support dates tracked across the fleet
- Firmware included alongside operating systems
- Upgrade plans timed for your budget cycle
- Unsupported systems flagged with the risk explained

Keep every machine set up the same way
Two computers that should be identical often are not. One has an old setting someone changed during a support call, another is missing a security policy because it was offline the day it went out. We define a standard configuration for each type of machine, check the fleet against it and bring stragglers back into line during routine maintenance. You also get an accurate record of what software is installed where, which helps with licence counts and with the questions an auditor or your privacy officer may ask.
- A standard configuration per machine type
- Drift detected and corrected routinely
- An up-to-date software inventory
- Records ready for audits and licence reviews

Managed Application Hosting & Infrastructure
If you would rather not run the servers at all, our managed hosting runs your applications on dedicated, private or hybrid infrastructure that we look after end to end.

Find the weak spots in your systems before they fail
Tell us what you run, where it is hosted and what has gone wrong lately. One of our engineers looks it over by hand and sends back the first fixes we would make, whether or not you hire us. Marketing and development questions are welcome too.
