What is Foundation & Entity Links?

Communities, open source, profiles, documents and podcasts that make your business easy to identify.

  • Discipline: Link Building
  • Working term: Four gates each prospect is tested against them, and most fail
  • Formats: ongoing monthly work or a single audit
  • Who you talk to: the senior lead, on every weekly call

The service

Our approach to
Foundation & Entity Links

This layer covers forums, Q&A sites, developer communities, open-source projects, cloud marketplace listings, social and professional profiles, shared documents and podcast guest spots. Most of these links are nofollow, and none will beat a competitor alone. Their value is different: an AI model that cannot tell which company you are will not risk recommending you. Clear, consistent descriptions across these platforms remove that doubt, and everything else builds on them.

Common blockers

Where this kind of work usually gets stuck

Problems that show up again and again when we first look at an account. Our plan is built to deal with each one.

Only your own website describes your company

Every statement about what you do lives on your domain. A search engine has nowhere independent to confirm it.

Old profiles that contradict the new ones

A LinkedIn page with the old logo, a directory profile linking to a retired domain. Out-of-date profiles do more harm than missing ones.

Forum posts that get removed

Moderators delete answers written only to drop a link, and sometimes ban the account. Helpful participation is what stays up.

Your description changes from site to site

Different summaries, categories and founding years across scraped platforms all flow into the data search engines rely on.

Foundation & Entity Links working method

How we keep the work accountable

Before work starts, we agree on the number that matters most to you. Each sprint is planned against it. You get a short recorded update every week and a dashboard you can open any time, and the senior lead joins every call.

  • A senior lead runs your account from day one
  • A recorded walkthrough each week and a shared reporting dashboard
  • We work inside the tools and CMS your team already uses
  • Target ranges written into the agreement before we begin

Our Process

Four stages of Foundation & Entity Links

The same order every time: find the constraint, plan, deliver, then review. Here is what each stage involves.

01

Backlink Gap Review

A senior analyst compares your backlink profile with the competitors ranking above you and flags harmful links that may be holding you back. You come away with a realistic sense of the gap and what closing it involves.

02

Targets and Story Ideas

We assemble a checked list of relevant publications, including Canadian trade and regional outlets, and develop data-led story ideas your industry cares about. Prospects are scored on real readership and topic fit, never on a domain metric alone.

03

Pitch and Place

Our team sends personalized pitches, answers journalist requests and runs digital PR, aiming for placements on sites with genuine editorial review. Link networks and private blog farms are off the table.

04

Check and Report

Each live link is screenshotted, checked for follow status and added to your dashboard with its referring traffic. A weekly recorded update covers new placements and any ranking changes they help drive.

01Pick the platforms that suit your business
Where a machine looks

Pick the platforms that suit your business

Search engines and AI models learn about companies from developer forums, Q&A sites, code repositories, business and social profiles, published reports, slide decks and podcast pages. We choose the ones that make sense for your industry. A Mississauga manufacturer and a Montréal software firm need different sets. A profile on a platform nobody in your field uses proves nothing, so we skip those.

  • Forums, Q&A and code platforms where they fit
  • Business and social profiles updated
  • Reports and decks published in citable form
  • Podcast and interview pages credited correctly
02Post only what a moderator would keep
Participation that survives

Post only what a moderator would keep

Community moderators spot link-driven posts quickly. A truly helpful answer can keep its link for years. A thin reply wrapped around a URL gets removed, and repeat posting can cost you the account. So we answer questions your team genuinely knows, in places your buyers already read, at a pace a real person would keep. It takes longer than mass submission, and it is the version that lasts.

  • Answers from people who know the subject
  • Each platform’s rules checked first
  • A natural posting pace
  • Nothing we would not sign our own name to
03Say the same thing about yourself everywhere
Consistency is the deliverable

Say the same thing about yourself everywhere

Individual links matter less here than agreement between sources. We settle one legal and trading name, one short description, one main URL and one set of category terms, then use them on every profile. We review existing profiles before creating new ones, since an old listing contradicting a fresh one is exactly the problem to solve.

  • Every existing profile reviewed first
  • One approved description used everywhere
  • Outdated profiles fixed or closed
  • A full list of profiles handed to you

FAQs

Before you sign: common questions

Straight answers on scope, timing and how we report.

Is this directory spam with a new label?
It would be if we submitted to everything. We choose platforms your industry uses, complete each profile properly and only post what a moderator would keep. Sites that exist purely to host links are excluded.
Why pay for links that are mostly nofollow?
Their value is confirmation. Search engines and AI tools need independent sources that agree about who you are before they show a knowledge panel or mention you in an answer.
How is this different from local citations?
Citations deal with your physical address for map results. Foundation work deals with the company itself: what it does, what it sells and who leads it. A business without a storefront often needs this and not citations.
What happens each month?
First a review and cleanup of what already exists. After that, a calm pace of new profiles and genuine participation. It is quiet work that makes everything else about your company easier to verify.
